About Chase Skylar DeMayo
Who Chase Is
Chase Skylar DeMayo is a U.S. Air Force veteran, near-death experiencer, speaker, writer, and advocate based in Central Florida. In 2008, at age 20, Chase suffered cardiac arrest while stationed at Langley Air Force Base. During the medical emergency, he experienced what he describes as an overwhelming encounter with light, love, peace, and Jesus.
Chase kept the experience private for approximately 12 years. His recovery, medical retirement, veteran support experiences, education, and eventual connection with the near-death experience community helped him find language for what happened and a purpose for sharing it.
Today, Chase speaks about joy, purpose, love, military NDEs, veteran support, identity, and the difficult process of returning to ordinary life after an extraordinary experience. His guiding message is simple: find joy, spread laughter, and Chase the Light.
Military Service
Chase is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He began SERE training, which was interrupted by a knee injury, and later served in Public Affairs journalism. He was stationed at Langley Air Force Base and was medically retired in 2008.

Recovery and Veteran Advocacy
After his medical retirement, Chase focused on recovery and later took part in veteran peer support, including a Wounded Warrior Project Project Odyssey retreat in October 2020, as Chase has described.
IANDS
He was the keynote at the IANDS 2024 International Conference in Phoenix. Chase was a featured speaker at the IANDS 2025 International Conference, as listed in the media section of this site.
